“Flavors of Fall Showdown” Recipe Contest Party at Centered Chef on 11/11

Please join us for the “Flavors of Fall Showdown” Party by and on November 11 to see which Chicago-area at-home cook takes home the Grand Prize – $500 to, a farm-to-table dinner for six at City Provisions and a chance to demo the winning dish live on WCIU’s You & Me This Morning. While guests await the announcement of the big winner, partygoers will enjoy complimentary food and drink including seasonal cheese pairings courtesy of the Great American Cheese Company and truffles from Katherine Anne Confections. Guests will also have the chance to sample Chef Ryan Hutmacher’s Thanksgiving Menu, available exclusively for delivery on (available for pre-order now).
Renowned DJ, Sadie Wood will be providing the music. Bring the kids –we’ll have tons of fun stuff for them to do too! A portion of the proceeds from the Flavors of Fall Showdown Party will benefit the Lakeview Food Pantry.

Chef Ryan Featured on WCIU’s “You and Me This Morning” talk show

Chef Ryan was featured today on WCIU’s “You and Me This Morning” talk show with hosts Melissa Forman and Jeanne Sparrow. In partnering with the Laini Fluellen Charities for their annual “Save Our Daughters” 5K Walk/Fun Run fundraiser this Sunday, he’ll share great recipes that are perfect for cancer prevention and maintainence.  
Please support the “Save Our Daughters” 5K Walk/Fun Run by registering here and make sure to say hi to Ryan when he features his cancer fighting recipes after the race.

As part of the Food Revolution Day celebration, Centered Chef debuted a video project designed to educate Chicago on mindful munching.  In partnership with various schools and NFP youth programs in the Chicago land area, our “Eat Your Veggies” Video Contest was born!

Aside from empowering these kids and young adults to eat healthier, our vision is for their family and peers to see the work they’ve done and learn from them.  Based on the total number of YouTube views captured on each video from now through exactly 1pm CST on 5/26, the winning team will receive a 25 person cooking party at Centered Chef along with amazing prizes furnished by KitchenAid!

Centered Chef set to host Food Revolution Day

Worldwide, Food Revolution Day will take place on Saturday, May 19, 2012. The Flagship Chicago event will be held at our Centered Chef Studios: 177 North Ada St. in the West Loop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with appearances by Protein Bar’s Chef Phil Fox, The Wellness Chef Eric Stein, Centered Chef Ryan HutmacherAndrea Metcalf of Naked Fitness, Mark Beier of Chicago Fit Club, Suzanne Ko of SKo-Fit, Lululemon, and Irv and Shelly’s Fresh Picks. Major sponsors and partners include KitchenAid, Protein Bar, American Diabetes Association of Chicago and Midtown Educational Foundation. The day will conclude with the debut of the Centered Chef’s “Eat Your Veggies” kids video contest.

Golden Apple Associate Board’s Spring Soiree at Centered Chef

Throughout Chicago, young professionals play a vital role in the work of the local nonprofit and philanthropic community. The Golden Apple Foundation seeks active business and civic leaders, aged 24-35, with diverse backgrounds to serve on its Associates Board. Since its inception in 2009, the Associates Board promotes Golden Apple’s mission by organizing events and other activities, targeted at other young professionals, that raise money, attract media/PR attention, and grow overall support for Golden Apple.

Centered Chef to Host Chicago’s Food Revolution Day May 19th

Attention healthy food patriots and clean eating collaborators!

On Saturday, May 19, Centered Chef has partnered with the Jamie Oliver Foundation to host Chicago’s biggest Food Revolution Day event. As part of this fun and interactive, family-focused event we are debuting a video project designed to educate Chicago on mindful munching.

We are looking for middle schools and NFP youth programs in the Chicago land area to participate in our “Eat Your Veggies” Video Contest! By selecting one team of 5-6 students, ranging from 6-8th grade, to represent your organization, all teams will meet at Centered Chef, on Saturday, May 12th to film a 90 to 120 second video short. The Centered Chef staff will be supporting each team with this creative video project from start to finish, allowing for creativity to flow around the excitement of healthy and delicious recipes. The winning team will receive a 25 person cooking class party here at Centered Chef along with amazing prizes furnished by our partner sponsors! 

Aside from this friendly competition, an amazing day of activities will feature local celebrity chefs, a farmer exhibit with animals, fun fitness sessions, and a couple more suprises.  Stay tuned for details on the full day’s agenda coming next week.  Tell your friends and family!
