Be good to your heart! February is National Heart Month, and Centered Chef Food Studios showcases recipes that promote heart health. Choosing foods high in fiber and rich in healthy fats like omega-3 fatty acids are sure ways to keep your heart going strong. Join Chefs Ryan Hutmacher and Sara Haas on WGN’s Lunchbreak as they prepare an aromatic Indian dish, Chana Masala, as well as a Brussels Sprouts Salad and Walnut Crusted Trout recipe.
Chef Ryan and Chef Sara are now contributing writers for USA Triathlon’s “Fuel Station”. Their article, Fitting in Fiber: Clean Cuisine That Keeps You Lean, was published this week.
Chef Ryan spent part of the day mentoring 20 teens from the Junior League of Chicago’s Teen Exodus Program. This program supports teen girls in improving self-esteem through constructive, group-related activities. With the focus on healthy snacks and foods and direction from Chef Ryan, the girls helped create all-natural fruit smoothies and homemade turkey ravioli with marinara. Chef Ryan finished the class with his signature flambéed almond trail mix.
